Seizing Strategic Opportunities and Deepening Practical Cooperation
Wang Wei Meets with Guests from Merck KGaA
On August 25, Wang Wei, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Suzhou Municipal Committee and Mayor of Suzhou, met with Mr. Benjamin Hein, Member of the Executive Board of Merck KGaA and CEO of Electronic Materials, and his delegation.

Merck KGaA, a German multinational, focuses on three business sectors: life science, healthcare, and electronics. Merck Electronic Materials (Suzhou) Co., Ltd., established in the Suzhou Industrial Park in 2004, has grown into one of Merck’s key manufacturing and service bases for its electronics business in China. Recently, Merck has proposed to build a Merck China Photoresist Technology Center in the Suzhou Industrial Park, further strengthening its local technical support and service capabilities.
During the meeting, Wang Wei, on behalf of the CPC Suzhou Municipal Committee and the Municipal People’s Government, welcomed the delegation and expressed gratitude for Merck’s longterm commitment and continued investment in Suzhou. Wang noted that Suzhou is currently seizing major opportunities including building a key supporting pivot for the Shanghai (Yangtze River Delta) International Science and Technology Innovation Center and developing a national demonstration zone for new industrialization, thus vigorously promoting the deep integration between technological innovation and industrial innovation. Merck boasts strong technological capabilities in the electronics sector, and the bilateral cooperation is built on a solid foundation with broad prospects. Wang also expressed the hope that Merck would fully leverage its strengths in supply chain and industrial talent, continue to expand its investment and business footprint in Suzhou, and introduce more worldleading technologies, projects, and production lines to Suzhou. Suzhou will remain committed to expanding highlevel openingup and carry out the special “three services” initiatives—serving enterprises, serving projects, and serving industrial parks and grassroots—to provide Merck with more attentive and thorough support.
Mr. Benjamin Hein expressed gratitude for Suzhou’s long-term care and support for Merck’s development. He said that Suzhou, with its complete industrial supporting facilities, vibrant innovation ecosystem, and superior business environment, is one of Merck’s most important strategic cities in China. Merck is fully confident in its development in Suzhou and will accelerate the construction of the Photoresist Technology Center, continue to deepen local R&D and manufacturing, and contribute to Suzhou’s high-quality industrial development, achieving mutual benefit and winwin outcomes.
Qian Yu, Secretary-General of Suzhou Municipal People’s Government, and key officials from Suzhou Industrial Park and relevant municipal departments attended the meeting.
