Advancing Dialogue on Industrial Development and Innovative Cooperation, Building Lasting Prosperity in the Asia-Pacific
The 9ᵗʰ HongQiao International Economic Forum parallel session “Economic Development and Integration in the Asia-Pacific: Shared Prosperity through Industrial Cooperation” will take place on the afternoon of 6 November 2026, at the Silk Road Hall (Rotunda) of the Hall 4.2 of the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai). This parallel session is hosted by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) of the People’s Republic of China, and organized by the UNIDO Regional Bureau for Asia and the Pacific, the China International Import Expo Bureau, and the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai).
Currently, the global development landscape is undergoing profound changes: the rapid evolution of emerging technologies, the worldwide attention to digital and green transitions, the reconfiguration of industrial and supply chains, and the growing challenges faced by international development cooperation… In response, Asia and the Pacific could fully leverage its strengths in resources, resilience, and innovation potentials to further strengthen regional cooperation, deepen integrated development, and promote sustainable growth.
In this context, UNIDO, which celebrates its 60th anniversary this year, will host this parallel session in collaboration with MOFCOM, convening representatives of governments, industries, and academia from across the Asia-Pacific region and experts from international organizations. The session will allow participants to share experiences in industrial development and innovation and explore prospects and opportunities for strengthening international industrial cooperation. Meanwhile, UNIDO will showcase its concrete efforts in promoting inclusive and sustainable industrial development through technical cooperation. The forum aims to build broad consensus among all stakeholders, contributing to the development of an Asia-Pacific community that promotes shared prosperity.
